Join us for our next Bible Study Tools Intensive annual conference

The Intensive is a Saturday full of fellowship, teaching, workshops and study. A day with like-minded sisters in Christ. A day of obedience and surrender. A day when the focus rests wholly upon seeking the LORD in His Word.

We will learn and practice using eight Bible study tools as we dig into a portion of Scripture together. We hope you'll go home feeling more confident in your personal study skills and more in love with God after studying His word together.

This workshop is appropriate for women ages 16 and above.

All the Details

  • Our Bible Study Tools Intensive conference is a Saturday workshop that invites you to learn and practice Bible Study tools. Throughout the day, you’ll use your new skills to study a passage of Scripture, in-depth. It is our hope and prayer that you will leave with three things:

    1. A greater confidence in your ability to understand, interpret and apply God’s Word in your personal study

    2. Growth in your ability to study Scripture in a way that is faithful to the meaning and intent of the original author

    3. A deeper understanding of the workshop scripture passage.

  • Nine Bible study tools will be covered throughout the day — seven in interactive workshops, and two as part of opening and closing keynotes — in a total of six 30-minute sessions. Each session will be taught by lay women with previous experience leading and teaching with our ministry and throughout the Dayton area.

Keynotes will cover Context and Commentary. We’ll have breakout sessions for:

    — Annotation

    — Cross Referencing

    — Comparing Translations

    — Outlining / Paraphrasing

    — Responding to the Text

    — Word Study.

(You’ll choose which four you want to attend as breakout sessions.)

As you learn each tool, you will practice using them to do an in-depth study of a passage of Scripture.

A workbook will be provided that includes a double-spaced copy of the text for easy annotating, as well as worksheets tailored to each learning session.

  • We’ve made quite a few changes for Intensive in July 2023.

First, we’ll use different Scripture to practice what we learn. Even if you attended Intensive in November, this Intensive is an opportunity to dig deep into Hebrews with a group of like-minded women.

Second, based on feedback we received after our first Intensive in November, we’ve extended the workshops to 45 minutes (instead of 30 minutes). This will give you more time to learn and linger in the text.

Finally, knowing that everyone’s needs are different, we’re letting you choose which four tools in which you most desire to grow. So if you’re a whiz at paraphrasing, but want to grow in your annotation skills, you’ll be able to attend the workshops that will benefit you the most.

  • Absolutely! We will offer a media kit that contains graphics you can use to tell others about this event. Feel free to use whatever you like and share it with your church, pastor or small group.

  • — Attending with friends: We hope to see small groups, church groups, friend groups and all kinds of groups attending Intensive together! If you’re in a group, discuss your workshop choices before registering, as we will not be able to make changes after registration is complete. Be sure to register each woman in a separate transaction, even if you are paying for multiple workshop seats, so that individual lunch and workshop selections can be attached to the correct name.

    — Free-will offering: We will collect a free-will offering to support our ministry for the women of the St. Vincent de Paul Homeless Shelter.

    — Marketplace: We’re excited to offer a bigger marketplace this year, with vendors and ministries that share your desire for God’s Word to be known and shared!
